Blocking Members - The Poll

How important is blocking a member site wide to you?
Blocking a member site wide is very important to me
It would be nice, but I don't really care
I still want them to be able to read my blog and view my profile
Just keep it the way it is

It is THE most important improvement that this sight could make in my opinion!

Star light, Star Bright, First star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight: Find me the man who when he sees me, his heart fills with joy, a man who wants to tell me about his day, a man who will text me just say, Hi - I was thinking about you, a man who knows I make his life better by being a part of it.

It can really cut down on how people harass and abuse each other. It will make this a nicer place to be. Privacy and security in all forms need to be taken seriously.

It would be great to block stalkers...and I mean that in the most literal sense...and this is from a stalkee...

Blocking completely-is the only way to proceed--and protect those members who have real issues with others and their harassment of them while on site...And as AdultFriendFinder has access to IP information--if they come back--shouldn't be too hard to catch them--albeit perhaps a process tedious at best. Just my thoughts...Good thread

Not had to ban any one so far as the person i would have loved to have banned and tried over the years has 6 different profiles,4 women ones,a couple and a guyshe or it gets about,at one point and i'm one of the oldest bloggers here,i had to delete all my blog as i got personal threats to my health and safety, but in the end i sorted it out by pretending to be friends as they say keep your friends close keep your enemy's closer, she is still about and still still causes shit with everyone.

I've seen good paying members leave in fear of there personal lives being exposed, threats of violence, and yet there all still here in there silly immature disguises, the site does nothing to protect any one, never has and sadly i believe never will

For what ever reasons people are here, standard through to gold, all deserve an amount of protection from the nutters that thrive on this site.

Its a great site with great people but sadly a few rotten apples do run the good ones out of town.

I think it would be a wonderful addition. I have another blogger with whom I have a petty and juvenile on-going problem. We banned each other for it, and now, although I never go to visit her blog, she comes to mine to vote disagree on everything positive anyone puts down. Can you do something about nasties like that? View my blog if you want to show proof. And if you like, I'll even give you the name of that awful woman. Thanks for asking anyway!

Well you know my answer as I have said it so many times, I want the full blocking because I have had problems with a few couples and a few guys harrassing me or being abusive to me and even though I have reported them nothing gets done.
At least if there was a full site block they couldn't view my profile or contact me on IM chat, which would make my time on here more enjoyable

I ll not even to discuss that ''Blocking a member site wide is very important to me''Because if I use the block button it must be a good reason.

It would seem the ayes have it. Personally I would like to actually be able to block someone across the site, but would this apply with those who just change their name and profile info? If not don't bother raising my hopes.

Considering all the kooks out there a total ban is only logical for the safety of AdultFriendFinder members, but that will not solve the problem, if the person wants to harass you they will get another profile and come at you ...

I am not sure how bad the cases have been where people are upset about "their stalker," but given the nature of this site and the high rejection rate...I would say that it would depend on the nature of the stalking
If someone is obviously hurt and expressing themselves verbally their opinions or beliefs, then some tolerance should be considered. Of course, respect is an issue.

If someone is expressing their pain of rejection or ire disrespectfully, then no I think that they should be blocked from your profile, and or your blog.

If someone has threatened you in someway and it has risen to the level that you feel unsafe, in anyway, I feel that person should be banned period. NO EXCEPTIONS****

Zero Tolerance should be considered and people should look elsewhere to make that kind of trouble.

Blocking people from viewing what you have said though is a mystery to me...Why eradicate them from understanding? Why not allow them to see the differences through time? For some people it takes more time to come to the same conclusions you did, about why things were not working... Understanding could make the difference in the future for them in dealing with others.

If however someone is abusive towards you personally, then I do believe they should be banned. NO exceptions No blocking

I'm Just Sayin'--Seriously?

We should certainly be able to block people from viewing our profiles and commenting and voting-all of it. Someone please tell me, what does blocking do now? just sending emails?

I don't know that much about how the site works (just post in groups and visit rooms) but I can't understand how people behave appallingly and get away with it.. and just keep coming back with different handles. If they're to be believed, AdultFriendFinder is a huge organisation and should be able to block these people permanently. Try avoiding your debts by going down to the bank and opening a new account in a made-up name, with no ID, and see how far you get...

I hope by "site wide" you mean they will be unable to view our profile, blogs, videos, cams, etc.

That is VERY important. We are all familiar with Internet stalkers.

I think it would be wonderful to be able to completely block someone! It isn't enough to just block them from commenting. These people can still view what you are saying. It is a huge violation of privacy! People get blocked for a reason. I no longer blog to the extent that I once did due to the fact that I was unable to completely block someone. I do not want to close my blog as it is a punishment to myself to do so. I am not the person that deserves that punishment and neither are the people that drop in to view my writings- that are welcome to do so! I do not like to ask people to join my network to read my blog. That is just ridiculous! I truly miss being a part of the blogging community here the way that I was before. xoxo T

Let me offer u comfort, rest,& peace.

Why block some one they will just have there friends and all there other friends come and check out your page or blogs to see if they can find out what your up to and see if they can get things stirred up even more by gossiping and spreading lies that are not true .

Will the site wide blocking be happening soon, because I am fed up of the abuse from certain people who don't even know me but yet still feel the need to say rude and abusive things to me.
i know i should get a thick skin but no one deserves to have the things that some say.
and yes i have reported them but nothing is done

I haven't had much cause for blocking others, but I can see how there would be instances where blocking someone would be a preferred option, because there are some very disconcerting people out there and everyone should be able to feel safe and comfortable on here.

The potential problem with having such an option is there could be people who use blocking as a vindictive tool against someone who may have simply spurned their interest (that has happened to me before)...so it is a delicate issue in total.

I can say that I agree totally with this and wish there was more we could do. I have had 2 stalker incidents from this site and one is ongoing. They have actually come OFF of the internet and into life off of here. Had I been able to nip this in the bud early it may not have gone this far. It is sad to see so many people having this happen and to see it is so wide spread.

wow so many comments on this issue of blocking or not to block. if your ,business, is going to have blocking it should work plain and simple. i tried to personally block some guy while i was on imc the other night and i couldnt. so i just acted like i couldnt see his comments and guess what everyone. he went away on his own. but i must say i was very frustrated when i tried to block him and couldnt.

At this point, with 2 of my blocked members watching and reading my blog everyday, it is the most important thing to me.

Please, please get the people who are in charge to know how important this is, not only as members, but for our personal safety.

GuitarGroupie_ 46F

It's a big safety issue. If we can block a stalker from ever seeing us on the website again,it will be a much safer place.
Look at other social networks. Most of them already have that in place.
Right now,I think a potential stalker could log on and still read my profile, blog AL post or group post and track me,waiting for the right moment.
If he/she can't see me,that can't happen.I say total block including IP address.
It will stop a lot of harassment.

    Quoting  :

or maybe people don't want to step into a mob scene and say "hit me". Guess I'm a masochist. It's not that I don't want people to be safe, just the opposite. I voted leave it alone tho and I'll tell you exactly why. I don't want them wasting time, money and resources on something which is already obvious won't help the overall problem.

In isolated cases it will work. It will work on people who simply didn't realize they were unwelcome, and would finally get the hint at that point. But for every case where it would work there are several truly malicious people which this will only make worse.

In the worst of cases, if someone has actually threatened you with bodily harm, and have reason to believe they have the means and intention to do so, notify the ***POLICE***. Seriously. Afff can't protect you from someone determined enough. No site can. People want some magic button or little check box is gonna make them safe? Get real. Be responsible for yourself and proactive about your own real world security.

I do believe those are rare situations tho, most people seem to be concerned with repetitive nuisances. That leads me to flaw two, as has already been mentioned, multiple profiles. Blocking a single username, sitewide, by IP, or whatever will only speed up escalation to the next level. Security needs to be approached on all fronts and right now the front door is a screen door with rusty hinges and a lock made of bubblegum. People have mentioned how wonderful other social sites are...ever notice what you have to go thru to create an account there? I'd rather see resources dedicated to taking a look at the signup process, and tracking the source of creation. Or at least refusing the obvious proxies. A script can mass produce new accounts (each with a unique IP) faster than any mechanism could tear em down. Only AFTER that is fixed and the "cost" of new account creation is high enough would *any* blocking/banning mechanism be effective. This would also cut down on scammers, fakes and advertisers. win-win

And lastly, at best this would create a *false* sense of security. It's better to know trouble is still lurking around than believe you have nothing to worry about. As mentioned, *anyone* can read anything posted here WITHOUT you knowing about it. When people feel safe they may say things which seem harmless at the time. But if they know they have an obsessed "friend" then they might be more careful about PUBLICLY posting things about little Bobby's soccer practice at John Doe Field or their dentist appointment in Hooville. People need to be aware of their surroundings, not ask the site to rose-tint their windows.

Thankfully, I haven't had any real problems, the one guy I blocked from my blog, and reported for abuse just disapeared, SO I was happy it worked.

I do think that if someone is 'trolling' or causing concern than yes blocking should mean a total block!

Perverted is when you use the whole chicken...

What is the point in posting this blog/poll Blocking Members - The Poll if nothing is going to be done the majority of us members would like people blocked from every part of viewing or contacting us after all there is a reason we block these people in the first place

This seems to have gone quiet

I dont understand why this is still an issue. How long has this site been around? Blocking members site wide from those who feel it is warranted should be a no brainer. Even if they come back with a new screen name, you are still going to know who they are by the first email or flirt, its guaranteed. Its happened to me and I knew it right off the bat. Obviously blocking someone is a major step and not one to be taken lightly and I'm sure those who do block do it as a last resort. I know I have. So why is this site the one taking it lightly? Whats the reasoning behind the blocking loop holes? Why even have a blocking feature if someone can still view blogs and cams of the ones who do not want them to? Just make the block site wide. Why in heck would this site allow someone I dont even want to view my profile, let alone email, be able to view my blog or my cam?

What would be REALLY nice would be to be able to block single males from seeing our profile (or at least from hot listing or flirting with us). We have nothing against single males, but we have NO interest in them and their constant flirts and hot listings of us just clogs up our email and directories. Is there a way to do this? Or at a minimum how do we delete a flirt or a hot listing? Other sites provide this functionality, you should too!
