Insidious little bastards.

Can't see 'em. Don't know you got 'em until it's too late. They burrow into your skin leaving a breathing hole behind. The resulting itch is quite intense.

The only cure for which is their death.

By suffocation no less. Just dab a bit of nail polish over the bite and they can't breathe. The itching seems to intensify, but the suffering is worth it since everyone knows that paybacks are hell.

Doh! I should have borrowed a clear polish rather than this speckled stuff. I look like a friggin easter egg!

I dunno, goddess. I think the photo was high resolution, and thus a large file. I reduced it dramatically, but it's still larger than any photo I've posted yet on here. Hmm.

Also, the skeeters were not out. It was still too early in the Spring for them to thrive. Lotsa gnats buzzing around though. They didn't bite, but the swarming was somewhat annoying.

Oh yes. We passed several fishermen that day. The gorge is truly awesome. Google it up. It is sometimes called the "grand canyon of the East". I kid you not. Very dramatic cliffs, and some tough hiking to boot!
